Giant Hogweed

Giant Hogweed has been growing again in Wood Street, close to the footpath.

Normally field staff from the Malvern Hills Conservators seek to control it by herbicide. However when they visited Wood Street a few weeks ago for this purpose they were alarmed to discover that it had already been cut down.

This is potentially very dangerous as the sap can cause severe inflamation of the skin, blisters, and even blindness.

The advice from MHC is that nobody should try to cut it back or indeed deal with it themselves. The safest way is to phone the MHC office and let the field officers from the Conservators do the necessary.

Guarlford Village Hall

Guarlford village hallGuarlford Village Hall can be hired at very reasonable rates. Situated in an old malthouse it has been a village hall since 1922 and a registered charity since 1949, all achieved by Guarlford residents from the past.

It has an attractive function room with exposed beams which give it a character all its own

The kitchen has a good supply of crockery and because the function room is on the first floor there is a stair lift for the disabled.

There are ceiling and wall heaters to keep the function room warm in the cold winter months.
