The government requires Parish Councils to make information available upon reasonable request. Some information, such as the minutes of meetings, is available on the web site whereas other information has to be requested from the Parish Clerk, for which there may be a small charge

Model Scheme

The Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) is the UK's independent authority set up to promote access to official information and to protect personal information.

The government is now requiring that authorities, including Parish Councils, should produce a guide to the specific information that they hold and how relevant information will be made available to the general public.  Requirements are outlined in an ICO Model Scheme.
